1. Who we are

Setel (setel.live) is a free online quiz platform that lets you create a personalised “Who Knows Me Best?” quiz about yourself and share it with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Setel, how we use it, and how we protect it.

2. Information we collect

2a. Information you provide directly

• Username and display name — chosen when you create a quiz. Becomes part of your public quiz URL (e.g. setel.live/yourname).
• Email address — optional. Provided only if you want to receive a notification when someone completes your quiz. We do not use this for marketing.
• Quiz content — the questions you pick and the answers you set become part of your quiz. This content is stored on our servers and displayed to anyone who plays your quiz.
• Player name — entered by players before starting a quiz. Displayed on the leaderboard for that quiz. No account is required to play.

2b. Information collected automatically

• Quiz attempt data — your answers, score, badge, and streak are stored to display on the leaderboard.
• Visitor count — we count site visits using a simple server-side counter. We do not fingerprint individual visitors.
• Cookies from advertising — Setel displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to personalise ads based on your browsing history. See Section 5 for details.

3. How we use your information

• To create and host your quiz and display it to people who visit your quiz link.
• To display play results and rankings on the public leaderboard for each quiz.
• To send a single notification email when someone completes your quiz (only if you provided your email and opted in).
• To count overall site visitors and display that figure on the homepage.
• To serve relevant advertising through Google AdSense, which helps keep Setel free.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for any purpose not described in this policy.

4. Data storage and retention

Setel uses Supabase (a managed PostgreSQL database service) to store all quiz data, user profiles, and attempt records. Supabase servers are located in the European Union. For Supabase's privacy practices, see supabase.com/privacy.

Quiz data and attempt records are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Email addresses used for notifications are stored only as long as the associated quiz exists. To request deletion of your data, contact us at the address in Section 8.

5. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)

Setel participates in the Google AdSense programme to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to setel.live and other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices.

6. Third-party services

• Supabase — database and backend (EU-hosted). Stores quiz data and user records.
• Google AdSense — advertising network. May set cookies on your device.
• Vercel — website hosting and content delivery. Handles web traffic and may log IP addresses for security purposes.

7. Children's privacy

Setel is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted to this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of Setel after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
